11/19: Poof!  Two months have passed.  In that time, had a great time teaching a small group of students in Costa Rica, did many shows, and began work on the second annual Ultimate Ninja Competition.  There's many things around the corner.  Currently, I'm revamping the Flowtricks site as video releases were taking too long under the current system.  One thing that I've noticed about systems is that they need to be constantly re-evaluated and optimized.

 

Ultimate Ninja will be starting soon.  I'm pulling the website directly into the Flowtricks page yo!  Hope you all are getting ready for the holidays! :)

P.S. We will be introducing TAG CLOUDS into Flowtricks.  This will be a cloud of links for the techniques in that level.  "Rock on Ken!"  "Thank you, thank you."

 

 

 

9/15: The videos keep flowing!  There is a ton to do with every video, let me tell ya!  I had been juggling the idea of keeping this purely on Youtube so I can release videos twice as fast, but I think the slower and more thorough approach will win out in the long run.  At least I hope so! :)  So today, I added the nunchaku section on Flowtricks... It's just the beginning but setting the template and pages to disperse them is all part of the plan to getting this to move smoothly and awesomely.

 

9/3:  So far, there are 7 staff videos out!  I just got done entering them on the flowtricks website.  Before this gets too big, I've made minor adjustments.  The full experience, you will need to watch this on something that has flash so you can get into the annotations...but I still have a little set of links on every flowtricks page...and soon a master page.

8/29: Much can happen in a few days!  A basic rudimentary Flowtricks store has opened with only one staff in inventory for now.  Much more will come soon!  In other exciting news, I will be auditioning for Cirque Du Soleil at the end of next month . Wish me luck!  I'm about to bring nunchaku into the limelight again! :)

8/25: Welcome ! I haz returned.  I actually wasn't gone, I just haven't been writing in these notes lately.  Where are all the learn categories? I've hidden them until I get an official video released for that prop.  This will lessen the confusion of what material is available.  Once I release at least one video tutorial, then the page will reappear!  Right now though, check out the new design of the staff category!

Flowtricks videos have started and we are underway.  Currently, there are 3 releases per week: Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.  Tues and Thursday releases will be at 7PM and I'm thinking around noon on Saturday (still bouncing the time around).  I'm pretty excited to get this show on the road! :D

8/12: Flowtricks Calendar is up.  I've decided to start releasing videos on a schedule so watch the calendar for upcoming events.

 

 

8/11: I just worked a bunch of gigs and also helped Falconn with the opening of Flightmotion Studio.  Flightmotion will also be host to many, many Flowtricks videos so this is a winning combination. 

 

Today, I designed what I believe will be the base template for all Flowtricks techniques.  Please look it over and let me know if it looks correct!

It has been incredibly busy (as always) but today I am working on the store and also the website design for each individual technique.  It will take some photoshop magic but things are looking pretty good.

 

8/4: Added Martial Arts page under Learn and also updated the Costa Rica retreat.

 

8/3:  I just purchased a store for Flowtricks.  I've spent about 2.5 hours figuring it out.  I don't have a lot to show for it but that's the funny thing about learning something new.  The beginning stages take about five times longer and filled with trial and error.  The store will take some time to create but it is a vital part of Flowtricks as I'm asked about where to buy good quality gear all the time.  It's going to be nice to have everything in one central location.  With that, and live streaming almost ready to go... there are new dimensions opening up fast!  All that is left (besides videos) will be the belt system and monthly competitions.  That will come in after the video series begins.  When will the video series begin?  That's been the question all year.  I know that I wanted it out in February, haha...but it's the details that will make sure this thing thrives so when it does blast out, it will have the longevity and a system that will always stand strong. :)

 

Last night, I had a great meeting with Flowfires.com.  Flowfires is going to be one of the main inventory suppliers of Flowtricks.  The man knows how to make incredible props.  Originally we were both unlocking nunchaku moves together but he had eventually moved into his own realm of creating props while I continued to teach and perform regularly.  He's a great asset to Flowtricks and has excellent experience in making props that I depend on every time I perform.

 

8/2: Team Flowtricks is now on the site.  Read up on the awesome adventures of two talented martial artist kids, Jayden and Logan.  I have been spending literal days working on live streaming.  I eventually gave up on my iPad stream and got a webcam!

 

7/29: Check out this interview with the Fire and Flow Arts Magazine.  Rearranged all the prop forums under the "Learn" section.  This should look much cleaner.

 

 

7/28:  I've continued to edit the inscreen bar for Flowtricks.  I've done a ton of adjustements to the Flowtricks "in screen" bar. I've added a simple level system so you can see your "level up" and "level down" status as well as a color coding system, a brief description of the prop and level, a link to the main youtube prop page and a few minor tweaks..

 

Youtube breaks 1,000,000 views!!!

 

7/27: Added "Other Props" forum category.

 

7/25: Did you see the forum changes?  There are new subcategories and it is much easier to read.   It took nearly 2.5 hours of editing and coding to get it to work!  Haha..

7/24:  Still sick.  I added a mini frame for every article under "LEARN" so you can actually see the forum that you're reading up on.  So in the staff page, you can read staff posts without exiting.  I have to edit the layout better but that is for a different day!  For now, all pages have their forum embedded in the same page.  Wahoo!

7/23: I just returned late last night from a Quixotic show at Rootwire in West Virginia.  It was a 2 day driving trip each way, so 5 days total!  It rained on our set, but we still threw down and did great work on the show.  One thing I noticed more recently is how much easier it is for me to perform in front of an audience.  I have absolutely almost no jitters like I used to.  I just feel good vibes.  In some ways, I miss that nervous, excitement...but in other ways, I have much more focus and control because my mind has no fears to pull it away from it's path.  See though, I like a little bit a fear.  To me, fear is a sign of progression so I should always be looking for ways to keep myself pushing forward.  I also feel like, if I don't have fears, then I may stick to the patterns that I know will work.  So in a way, it's both a positive and negative thing to me.  Well...I am sick today and taking a day or two of rest.  It seems this News category is turning more into a blog!

 

7/16: Worked hard on a new Youtube video paying homage to the Ninja Turtles ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1CijphXXpZs ).  Coming up, I'm going to get the store set up and then the core website should be pretty much ready... Competitions and Belt system in the coming weeks.  I have an out of state gig this weekend and won't be able to work until I return.

7/14: Updated Flowtricks logo.  Jarrod Miller is now hosting the Weekly Feature, where he will choose videos and/or discussions to feature.  Made new banner logos.  Until July 31, if you register for the Costa Rica Retreat, upon arriving to Costa Rica, I will give you a free pair of fire nunchaku.
