Class Approaches

There are several reasons why you want to have a weekend of workshops.  We specialize our classes focus on different themes, depending on what you are looking for.

Martial Arts Weapon Demo:  Many martial arts schools are looking for more creative and amazing ways they can showcase their weapon demonstrations.  The root of Flowtricks is in the martial arts realm.  In this class approach, we focus on fighting style techniques that have been rounded off into a dazzling display of flow.  The class is focused on technique, technique, technique in the same way that a martial arts dojo would introduce them.  It's a weekend packed with information!

Casual Lessons/Beginners: This type of class is perfect for those who have never touched a prop.  We move at a slower pace but it's often much more entertaining and interactive.  Our focus for this type of approach is to make everyone feel great, interact with each other and finish with an optional performance.

Kids: Kids and flow arts go very well together!  Not only do these workshops build coordination, this approach focuses on giving them a great sense of self esteem as well.  We teach a simple technique and then add games to make it more interesting.  The goal is to give every kid a great time, have them develop their own performer name and to end the workshops with a performance showcase for parents, friends and family to watch.

Aspiring Performer
:  A performer is one who showcases their art to others.  Like a storyteller, they convey emotions and stories to the crowd through their movements.  The dedication of a performer is a disciplined and serious art.  Our goal is to give you the tools so your movement and spinning style will be more expressive and powerful.  Our workshops deal with footwork, accentuations, building a show,  favored techniques for crowds, business of flow arts and simple choreographies to get you started.

Aspiring Spinner:  For Flowtricks, we regard a spinner as a person who uses flow arts as a path to explore and express themselves.  In contrast to an aspiring performer, an aspiring spinner focuses more on how the techniques feels over how it looks to an audience.  Aspiring spinners are often some of the most technical of the bunch.  This workshop deals with more complex spinning techniques, sequences, translations between props and connecting your sense of self so it becomes one with your spinning style.
